Karen Canfell, Lead of Cancer Elimination Collaboration (CEC) at the University of Sydney, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We are very excited that EPICC is featured in the new issue of the Sydney Alumni Magazine!
EPICC is a huge program with an active implementation footprint in eight Indo-Pacific countries. We also provide policy, planning and technical assistance support to an even larger group of countries.
This article highlights the program in Timor-Leste as a case study of the impact on the ground. Many congratulations to the fabulous Deborah Bateson AM, implementation lead for Timor-Leste, who is featured in the article!
The program has inspiring local leaders – Dr Zetó (Dr José António Gusmão Guterres) is interviewed, and movingly speaks to the challenges the program is now addressing – women being diagnosed with advanced cancer, with few treatment options, and families preparing for loss.
And acknowledgement as well to Dr ‘Andi’ Adriano Pereira, Dr Maria Jose, Sra. Madalena F. S. Gomes, Dr Marilia da Conceicao, our local team lead Dr. Merita Monteiro, and all of the Vera Cruz CHC team.”
