“Rare cancers are rare individually. Their collective challenge is anything but rare.
Marking Rare Cancer Day today has particular meaning for me this year.
One of the most valuable aspects of my 2026 has been the precision oncology fellowship, which has allowed me to think more deeply about rare cancers, not simply as uncommon histologies but increasingly as molecularly defined diseases in which precision oncology can fundamentally change what is possible.
It has also strengthened my conviction that we need to build more opportunities for rare-cancer education, multidisciplinary discussion and collaboration in India, particularly for young oncologists who may encounter these diseases only occasionally but must still make consequential decisions when they do.”
