Karamvir Yadav: Can AML Treatment Become Truly Patient-Centered?

Karamvir Yadav, Medical Oncologist at Harish Renova Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Can AML treatment become truly patient-centered?

The ASCERTAIN-V trial provides compelling evidence supporting an all-oral approach for patients with newly diagnosed AML who are not candidates for intensive induction therapy.

Key findings:

  • 47% Complete Response rate
  • 63% CR/CRi rate
  • Median OS of 15.5 months
  • No clinically meaningful drug-drug interactions
  • Manageable and expected safety profile

One of the most clinically relevant lessons from this study is the importance of response-guided treatment modification. Early marrow assessment and reduced venetoclax exposure after blast clearance were associated with lower rates of febrile neutropenia and serious adverse events.

As oncology continues moving toward more convenient and patient-focused care models, this study represents an important step forward.”
