Julio Aguirre-Ghiso, Associate Director for Basic Science of MECCC at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, shared The Francis Crick Institute’s post on LinkedIn, adding:
“Great to see this out!
Of interest for our Cancer Dormancy Institute. Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center community!
Congrats Ilaria Malanchi and team!”
Quoting The Francis Crick Institute’s post:
“Researchers at the Crick have shown that a surge in immune cell production in response to an indirect injury or infection can reactivate dormant cancer cells inside the bone, potentially leading to relapse.
This research, which involved developing a replica bone model, was carried out by Stefania Di Blasio and Tatiana Rizou in the Tumour-Host Interaction Lab, led by Ilaria Malanchi, and built upon previous work from Laurie Jeanne.”
