Julie Fleshman։ Advocating for Continued Federal Investment in Pancreatic Cancer Research

Julie Fleshman, President and CEO of Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), shared on LinkedIn:

“Yesterday, I spent the day on Capitol Hill meeting with members of Congress and their staff to advocate for continued federal investment in pancreatic cancer research.

As Congress works toward a final FY27 spending package, we emphasized the importance of robust funding for the NIH and NCI, as well as continued investment in the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program at the DoD.

We also took a moment to acknowledge that years of federally funded research helped lay the foundation for breakthroughs like the FDA’s recent approval of RASONQUE, the first targeted RAS inhibitor approved for pancreatic cancer.

This is an important moment for our community – and a powerful reminder of what sustained investment in research can accomplish.

But this is not the time to slow down.

We need to build on this momentum, continue investing in the science and make sure the next breakthrough reaches patients.

I’m grateful to the members of Congress who continue to champion pancreatic cancer research, and I’ll keep working alongside our advocates to make sure pancreatic cancer remains a priority.”
