Julia Moore: Power Shapes What Gets Implemented, by Whom, and for Whose Benefit

Julia Moore, the  Executive Director for The Center for Implementation, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Just read this The Lancet Global Health article about power and implementation science, by Hanna-Tina Fischer, Johanna Hanefeld, and Augustina Koduah, Implementation science and power: equity-oriented implementation science needs a power lens.

I love where this is going. This quote resonates so deeply with our experience supporting implementation globally.

“We therefore argue for an expanded power lens in implementation science—one that brings into view the multiple and intersecting forms of power that shape what gets implemented, by whom, and for whose benefit.”

Because all implementation work is grounded in relationships, understanding how power impacts those relationships is crucial.

Can’t wait to dig into the rest of this special issue.”

Bogda Koczwara, Director of Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship, shared a post, adding:

“Such an important perspective. We often tend to think that change happens when we mobilise the grass roots movement. But that is only possible when the power differentials are addressed and the top down levers are understood and addressed.”
