Julia Ismael: Honoured to Be Nominated for UICC Board of Directors

Julia Ismael, Executive Director at GEDYT S.A., Co‑founder of W4oLATAM and Associate Researcher at the IECS, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I am honored to share that I have been shortlisted as a candidate for the Board of Directors of the Union for International Cancer Control  for the 2026–2028 term.

I am deeply grateful to the Nominating Committee for its confidence, and to the colleagues, organizations, mentors, and collaborators who have accompanied me throughout my journey in cancer control, public health, and health systems strengthening.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working across clinical oncology, national cancer policy, institutional leadership, and international collaboration. These experiences have reinforced my belief that meaningful progress in cancer control requires strong health systems, equitable access to care, and effective implementation of evidence-based strategies.

If elected by the UICC membership at the upcoming General Assembly, I would be honored to contribute to advancing UICC’s mission and to bringing the perspective of Latin America and low- and middle-income countries to the global conversation on cancer control.

My sincere thanks to everyone who has supported and inspired this journey.”
