Jule Vásquez, Medical Oncologist at Clínica Delgado, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Exciting news for global oncology!
I’m proud to share that the Long-term International Fellowship (LIFe Award) has been newly revised and approved by the Conquer Cancer Board of Directors — and is now open for applications.
Previously, this fellowship supported one fellow for a 12-month in-person experience.
Now, the updated version—developed with valuable input from the ASCO International Affairs Committee (IAC), of which I am honored to be a member—will support two fellows, each completing up to 6 months of in-person training at a host institution (in the U.S., Canada, or Europe), followed by virtual mentorship extending the program to 12–18 months.
This new structure was designed to double the impact of the award while also offering greater flexibility for oncologists who may be unable to leave their home countries for a full year due to professional or family commitments.
The revised model enhances mentorship continuity, broadens access, and reinforces the mission to strengthen the oncology workforce in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) — advancing ASCO’s commitment to equity, capacity building, and sustainable global collaboration.
I sincerely thank ASCO for giving me the opportunity to serve within the International Affairs Committee and to be a voice for international oncologists in shaping initiatives that truly make a global difference.
Learn more and apply here.”
