“Every child with cancer deserves to benefit from the most innovative medicines and that means considering children’s needs from the very beginning of research and development, not as an afterthought.

Over the course of my career, I have seen remarkable progress in cancer care. But progress has not reached all patients equally, and in paediatric oncology there is still a significant innovation gap to close.

During this Childhood Cancer Awareness month, I am sharing my thoughts on why stronger collaboration, smarter incentives and earlier integration of paediatric needs into R/D are essential if we are to improve both outcomes and quality of life for children living with cancer.
