That distinction changes everything.
Many in radiation oncology continue searching for the next payment model. We believe they’re asking the wrong question.
The future isn’t about replacing fee-for-service with another reimbursement methodology.
It is about building an Accountable Oncology Enterprise capable of coordinating care across radiation oncology, medical oncology, infusion, pharmacy, imaging, navigation, and supportive services while assuming responsibility for outcomes, utilization, and total cost of care.
This is also why we believe ROCR, while a thoughtful attempt to stabilize radiation oncology reimbursement, is not the destination. It solves a specialty payment problem while CMS is redesigning the economics of the entire healthcare enterprise.
