Jong Chul Park: Moving Risk Prediction in Head and Neck Cancer from Static Scores to Real-Time Care

Jong Chul Park, Medical Oncologist at Massachusetts General Hospital shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Excited to share our latest study on AI-powered, real-time risk prediction in locally advanced head and neck cancer.

In this work, we took a different approach from conventional prognostic models:

  •  A new attempt to use AI with real-world data: We built a machine-learning model using multiple routinely collected clinical variables from large, international cohorts to better estimate recurrence and survival in HNSCC.
  •  Not a static score, but a dynamic, real-time risk model: Instead of relying only on baseline factors, our model continuously updates risk estimates over time by integrating longitudinal data.
  •  Next steps: incorporating richer data layers (radiomics, genomics, pathology) and moving toward prospective validation, with the goal of building a clinically actionable, precision surveillance platform.

Grateful to an outstanding international team and collaborators.”
