“As an early-phase trialist, I never stop being amazed by the bravery and generosity of the people who step forward into the unknown. Patients like Tracy don’t just shape their own care; they open the door for everyone who follows.
So it means a great deal to share a global first: ZIMA-101, a first-in-human cell therapy trial, is a true collaboration between our Advanced Immunotherapy, Cell Therapy team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and the Zelluna team.
Those in the know understand how much happens behind the scenes. Setting up a cell therapy study is never straightforward. We’re still early in the trial, but this feels like the right moment to recognise the multidisciplinary team who made it possible .
Our Clinical Trials Coordinators, led by Greta Narkute and Terry Wood, worked tirelessly with teams across the hospital to get every operational detail in place. Our ACP Gemma Butterworth and Clinical Research Fellows Rachel Woodford, Vasiliki Nikolaidou and Eliot Leonard worked hand in hand with our Clinical Research Nurses team led by Camille Nicholls and Jessica Ritchie to make a hugely complex patient journey feel seamless. Special thanks to our lead cell therapy pharmacist Ragini Jethra and Translational Research Facilitator John Hill.
