John-Arne Røttingen, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Wellcome, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“To reimagine the global health system, we must start by asking the right questions.
For example, we must consider:
• What key functions should a global health system deliver?
• How will countries finance their responsibilities for health?
• How can health inequities be addressed more effectively within countries?
I, along with colleagues in health from around the world (Kumanan Rasanathan, Keith Cloete, Dr. Githinji Gitahi, Octavio Gómez-Dantés, Diah Satyani Saminarsih, Soumya Swaminathan, Amirhossein Takian), wrote a paper that outlines what needs to be addressed by any kind of reform to the current system.
We consider questions around the global health system’s function, how it is financed and how it can achieve health equity for everyone.”
