Joanna Metzner-Sadurski: A Privilege to Moderate This Important Session

Joanna Metzner-Sadurski, President of Oncology101.org, Adjunct Professor at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, shared on LinkedIn:

“It was a privilege to moderate this important session with Dr. Jack Hensoln, Professor Fred Ashbury, Jenny Myers Ahlstrom and Dr. Otávio Al-Alam.

Our conversation emphasized that clinical guidelines provide an essential roadmap, but they must be adapted to the individual patient sitting in front of us. We explored the challenges of implementing guidelines and expanding access to clinical trials in community settings.

Professor Ashbury discussed how VieCure’s AI-powered platform can organize complex clinical information and provide timely, relevant guidance to busy community oncologists.

Jenny Ahlstrom highlighted the work of HealthTree, which helps patients keep their medical information together in one place. This reduces fragmentation, provides a more complete picture of the patient’s journey, and empowers patients to participate actively in decisions about their care.

Dr. Hensold emphasized that strong community oncology is built through collaboration with academic cancer centers. By working together, we can bring research, clinical trials, and excellent evidence-based care closer to where patients live.

Thank you to all our speakers for sharing your expertise and for leading such a thoughtful and important conversation.”
