“One of the most meaningful parts of the All In Ladies Clinic was the Survivor Party.
The room was filled with cancer survivors-a powerful reminder that we can beat cancer. Some had completed treatment only recently, while others had been cancer-free for more than 32 years. Every smile, every story, and every embrace was a testament to hope, resilience, and the incredible progress being made in cancer care.
Coach Dabo Swinney shared a message that resonated deeply with me: the person who fights one more round is never defeated. No matter how difficult the journey, we keep moving forward. We keep believing. We keep fighting.
Survivorship is not simply about surviving cancer—it is about thriving after cancer. It is about helping patients live healthier, fuller, and more meaningful lives long after treatment ends.
That is why I am especially excited about the vision of Dr. Ruiling Yuan, MD our Dyad Director of Cancer Services, as we continue to expand survivorship care at Self Regional Healthcare. We are committed to caring for the whole person, not just the disease. Today, our survivorship resources include Exercise Oncology, Sleep Oncology, and Cardio-Oncology, with continued efforts to build a comprehensive survivorship program that supports patients throughout every stage of their journey.
Seeing so many survivors together reminded all of us why we do this work. Every survivor represents hope-not only for those living with cancer today, but for everyone who will face it tomorrow.”

The passion of the Swinney family and the All In Team Foundation was evident throughout the day. Their commitment to breast cancer prevention, early detection, education, research, and the Breast Cancer Rise for a Cure initiative continues to inspire hope and unite communities in the fight against cancer.
Joanna Metzner-Sadurski, MD and I were grateful for the opportunity to speak with Coach Dabo Swinney, Kathleen Swinney, and members of the All In Team Foundation about the mission of the Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation and our shared commitment to advancing cancer research. We also discussed how the Conquer Cancer Young Investigator Awards invest in the next generation of cancer researchers – a mission that aligns so well with the Dabo’s All In Team Foundation‘s commitment to creating a healthier future.
One message I took away from Coach Swinney’s remarks was that great moments are built through persistence, frustrating moments, and a positive attitude. Those words extend far beyond football.
As an oncologist, they resonate deeply. Every breakthrough in cancer care begins with persistence-by patients, researchers, clinicians, advocates, and generous supporters who never stop believing that tomorrow can be better than today.
Today’s research becomes tomorrow’s hope. Together, we are All In.

Last year, Joanna Metzner-Sadurski, MD and I attended the Dabo Swinney Ladies Clinic to thank the Dabo’s All In Team Foundation for its extraordinary generosity in supporting the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation’s 3D mobile mammography unit.
This year, it was incredibly meaningful to return and see that vision becoming reality. The mobile mammography unit is expected to be delivered this August, bringing breast cancer screening closer to women throughout the Lakelands region – including many who face barriers to care.
Early detection saves lives. Our hope is that this mobile unit will help ensure that every woman, regardless of insurance status or where she lives, has access to potentially life-saving breast cancer screening. We also hope it means that many more breast cancer survivors will one day gather at future Ladies Clinics to celebrate life and hope.
This is what community cancer care is all about—healthcare systems, philanthropy, community leaders, advocates, and volunteers coming together to improve lives beyond the walls of the clinic.
Grateful to work alongside Joanna Metzner-Sadurski and so many dedicated colleagues and community partners who are making a lasting difference.
