JJ Singleton, Research Advocate at Fight Colorectal Cancer, adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivor, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“10 years ago I started chemo treatments again due to my cancer coming back and spreading, it was my 13th overall infusion, 5 years ago today I hit my 100th infusion and this Wednesday will be my 185th infusion of my life saving cancer killing drugs.
Sometimes numbers don’t do it justice but basically every 21st day for the last 10 years or 3654 days I’ve had a chemo infusion, the longest break I’ve had was 32 days without a treatment due to surgery and insurance mess up.
10 years ago I never imagined being alive today it wasn’t even possible in my dreams but I’m here and for maybe the first time I’m focusing on that instead of how these dates negatively impacted my life and how they are now allowing me to show what is possible but at the same time remember it’s been hard and Ive walked through hell many times over to be standing here today.”
