Jill Feldman, Lung Cancer Patient and Advocate, Co-Founder of EGFR Resisters, shared a post on X by ALCSI, adding:
“It was an honor to talk during the ALCSI Distinguished Lecture Series. I continue to be inspired by this large group of students who could have been doing anything else on a Saturday. College and high school are supposed to be full of games, parties, late nights, and lighter things than lung cancer and stigma. But they chose to lean into something hard and uncomfortable, because they want to make a difference.
I don’t take that lightly. I can’t thank them enough for choosing to use their time, their brains, and their voices for something bigger than themselves.”
Quoting ALCSI’s post:
“We were so honored to celebrate November lung cancer awareness month with a Distinguished Lecture Series by Jill Feldman, where more than 160 members of our ALCSI community joined us. Her story as a survivor, advocate, and leader in the lung cancer community moved all of us deeply. Jill spoke powerfully about the stigma surrounding lung cancer and shared the impactful work she has led with the NLCRT and IASLC to change the narrative and improve patient-centered communication.
She also walked us through the language guides she helped develop—essential tools that continue to shape how clinicians, advocates, and communities talk about lung cancer with empathy and accuracy. Her decades of work in advocacy, community building, and patient leadership offered profound insight into the realities of lung cancer and the transformative importance of early detection.
We are so grateful to Jill for spending her time with us. Thank you, Jill, for your wisdom, honesty, and unwavering commitment to improving awareness and access to lung cancer screening!”
