Jihan Azar: Approaching the End of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Jihan Azar, Consultant at World Health Organization, shared on LinkedIn:

“As we approach the end of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, I am proud to share a project that is especially close to my heart – developed by an incredibly thoughtful team in collaboration with NCD Alliance.

This children’s book tells the story of little Leila, who is diagnosed with childhood cancer and takes us through her journey of diagnosis, treatment, and remission. Through her young eyes, filled with hope and determination, we see both the challenges and the resilience of children facing cancer.

But we know that, sadly, not every child has the chance to reach remission. Inequitable access to diagnostic services, medicines, and follow-up care continues to stand in the way. That is why we remain committed to fighting until every child, everywhere, has the same opportunity for a dignified and happy life.

We hope this book will bring joy and hope to children around the world – and help break the stigma surrounding childhood cancer.”
