Jens Lehmann, Postdoctoral researcher at Medical University of Innsbruck shared a post by EORTC – European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer on LinkedIn:
“The EORTC – European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer has an amazing and active Young and Early Career Investigator (Y-ECI) community.
Today, we are sharing two important milestones and successes. Two papers were just published in the European Journal of Cancer:
- A prespectives paper describing the structure and vision of the community inside the organisation – this is really a summary of the work and networks that are developed in the EORTC’s groups
- The summary and outcomes from a leadership and development course we organized through the community in 2025. It’s been an amazing program with so many motivated and talented ECIs, who will be driving cancer research forward in the EU in the next years (in fact, already are).
It’s terrific to see these milestones now recognized. And I am very grateful to represent the Y-ECI community at the Board and create visibility and opportunities for all the people that are a part of it!
Very much looking forward to what more there is to come out of this community in the next years and thankful for the support this organisation, the headquarters, and the board give to us!
With Ioannis Zerdes and Petr Szturz as Y-ECI co-authors and organizers of the 2025 program.
By the way: If you are an ECI in the organisation and the program sounds interesting to you, stay tuned. Will will announce applications for the next version in 2027 soon!”
Quoting EORTC‘s post:
“Celebrating the impact of EORTC’s Young and Early Career Investigators (Y‑ECI) community.
Two recent papers published in the European Journal of Cancer document the structure, achievements, and value of the EORTC Y‑ECI Network, as well as the impact of its dedicated training programmes.
With over 1,200 members, the Y‑ECI network fosters engagement in clinical trials, training, and leadership initiatives of early-career healthcare professionals and researchers, helping strengthen the future of academic cancer research.
Congratulations to the Y‑ECI community, and sincere thanks to everyone contributing to its continued success.
