“Today, 24 August 2026, I had the pleasure of receiving in my office several distinguished global health leaders to strengthen Africa’s partnerships for health security and sovereignty. I met successively with Dr. Sania Nishtar, CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, Peter Sands, Executive Director of the Global Fund, Dr. Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, and Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari, Senior Advisor to the Emir of Qatar and former Minister of Public Health of Qatar.
Africa’s pursuit of health security and sovereignty means building strong African institutions and capacities that enable our continent to engage with the rest of the world through partnerships based on mutual respect, shared responsibility and common interests. I deeply value these relationships and the commitment of our partners to continue working with Africa CDC and our Member States.”
