Jason Vassy, Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Director of
Genomes2Veterans, Physician-investigator at VA Boston Healthcare System and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Sharing our new prostate cancer genomic prediction model: P-CARE.
We used Million Veteran Program data to develop a prediction model for clinically significant, metastatic, and fatal prostate cancer.
We then worked with Broad Clinical Labs to develop an assay and laboratory reports for the P-CARE model and rare variants.
And now this model is powering a national clinical trial of precision prostate cancer screening across the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Over 3,000 Veterans in all 50 states enrolled to date!
One more example of how the VA’s learning health system is translating discovery to implementation and evaluation.
Paper out today in Nature Cancer.
Ongoing ProGRESS Study clinical trial.
Eligible Veterans can learn more and enroll.
Grateful for a phenomenal team of global collaborators and leadership from Tyler Seibert and Anna Dornisch.”
