Jasmine Kamboj: Standing With ASCO and Conquer Cancer to Advance Oncology Research

Jasmine Kamboj, Physician at Mayo Clinic Health System, shared on LinkedIn:

“Thanks to American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation for partnering with me and my family to host this wonderful fundraiser.

Fresh out of fellowship, I had a 35 y/o lady as my patient, diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer 2 months after the birth of her second child- her son. After learning her grave diagnosis and prognosis, she came up with her desires and wishes- to be able to attend her sons first birthday.

She did attend her sons first birthday, but succumbed to this disease soon after.

Fast forward to ASCO26, data presented about a drug called Daraxonrasib that extends survival for pancreatic cancer. This received several standing ovations. These ovations are to honor decades of scientific research, teams behind those research but most importantly our patients who deserve many more celebrations with their loved ones. My patient deserved more than one birthday with her son.

That’s why we stand with Conquer Cancer Foundation, the worlds largest cancer research foundation that supports research projects like the Young Investigator Award for an early career scientist that will change future of cancer care.

My heartfelt thanks to Dr Clifford Hudis for being our guest speaker, and Dr Julie Gralow for gracing this occasion, despite their super busy schedules.

ASCO Leaders have a special place in my heart, not only are they tireless advocates for quality cancer care, they are super inspirational individuals. I feel honored and privileged to have them at our place.

Thanks Minnesota Society of Clinical Oncology (MSCO), Amy Lydic, CAE Dr Bal Jahagiridhar and the MSCO Board for generously supporting the full amount of the YIA award. Your generosity towards American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and Minnesota Society of Clinical Oncology (MSCO)’s shared mission of fighting cancer- is commendable!

Huge shout out to my son – Aryan Kamboj for going beyond his goal of raising 1250 USD for a Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation Merit Award, and also for organizing an out of uniform school day at Saint Thomas Academy, where every dollar raised would go to ASCO’s CCF.

Friends and Family of Kamboj and Christie’s – many of whom traveled more than 3 hours after their busy clinics to come for this event. THANK YOU!

Thanks to amazing ASCO staffKatie Hood and Megan Sappenfield for your support and partnerships, you make planning so easy.

Also, we had so much fun with a Mehandi artist and our orange glasses – both to honor the orange of CCF.

Lastly, my beautiful family- Patrick Christie Aryan Kamboj and my mom in India, your support means the world to me.

Thank you!”
