Janice Cowden, MBC Patient Advocate, shared Sarah Sammons’s, Co-Leader of Breast Oncology at UMGCCC, post on X, adding:
“I’m 100% in the opt-in camp because immediate access to my results helps me formulate questions, be an active partner in my care.
But patients who prefer not to see results first should have the same right to opt out. We can’t simply say,
‘Just don’t look.’
This isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every patient portal should offer both options. Give patients the choice, and recognize that their preference may change over time.”
Quoting Sarah Sammons’s post:
“Patients should be able to opt in or out of immediate results on their portal. Some love it and many don’t…Great study.”
