“Cancer research moves faster when institutions stop working in isolation, and I am pleased to welcome the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center to the Caris Precision Oncology Alliance.
UNM is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center within a 500-mile radius, and serves roughly 65% of New Mexico’s cancer patients, many of them in rural and underserved communities that precision medicine has been slower to reach. Their clinicians and researchers understand these patients and the barriers they face. That perspective matters.
Every study, molecular signature, and shared dataset ultimately serves a patient and a physician trying to make a difficult decision with better information than they had before. Welcoming UNM to the POA brings more of that work closer to the people who need it most.
