Hong Kong, September 23, 2026 – The ISOPT Charitable Foundation (ICF) officially launched in Hong Kong, establishing a new initiative focused on cancer prevention, early detection, education and improving access to preventive services for communities with unmet needs.
Established jointly by the International Society of Oncology Prevention and Treatment (ISOPT) and the Hong Kong Association for External Friendship, the Foundation brings together leaders from oncology, healthcare, academia, philanthropy and the wider community to translate advances in cancer prevention and early detection into greater access and action.
The inaugural launch raised HK$5 million to support oncology education across the Asia-Pacific region and cancer prevention and screening initiatives.
One of the Foundation’s first initiatives is the Free Cancer Screening Support Programme, designed to help eligible Hong Kong residents in need access designated screening services.
The programme includes breast cancer screening through mammography and ultrasound, lung cancer screening with low-dose CT, liver cancer screening through ultrasound and alphafetoprotein (AFP) testing, and prostate cancer screening with PSA testing.
The programme reflects the Foundation’s prevention-first approach and its commitment to expanding access to early detection for individuals who may otherwise face barriers to preventive healthcare.
The Foundation is chaired by Professor Dennis Lam Shun-chiu, with The Hon. Professor Priscilla Leung Mei-fun serving as Co-Chair. Professor Charles M. Balch, President and Founder of ISOPT, serves as an Honorary President alongside Professor Che-hung Leong and Professor Arthur Li.
The leadership also includes Professor Ning Liao, Director of Education and International Exchange; Andrew Yao and S.T. Lim, Vice Presidents; and Barry Lam, Director of Media.
The inaugural event brought together representatives from healthcare, academia, government, philanthropy and business, as well as international guests, reflecting the collaborative model behind the Foundation.
Beginning in Hong Kong, the Foundation’s broader vision includes cancer prevention and screening initiatives, professional education, research, training and international exchange across Mainland China, the Asia-Pacific region and communities with unmet needs.
Through the new Foundation, ISOPT aims to help move cancer care further upstream – from responding to disease toward identifying risk earlier, expanding access to prevention and supporting earlier detection.
