Isabel Mestres, CEO of City Cancer Challenge (C/Can), shared on LinkedIn:
“I was genuinely excited when I read the latest WHO Global Status Report on Cancer. Something is changing in the cancer space. Am I the only one sensing it?
We are moving beyond documenting the problem. We are becoming clearer about what needs to happen, how to make it happen, and the partnerships required to deliver it.
The report came out while I was in Quezon City, Philippines, engaging with stakeholders and seeing firsthand the commitment of the Department of Health, the local government and WHO Philippines to align their efforts and turn ambition into action. We have a great city on board lead by C/Can City Manager Herdee Gloriane.
A heartfelt thank you and congratulations to Alarcos Cieza, Andre Ilbawi, Susan Henshall and the entire WHO and IARC team for the fantastic work you are doing and for bringing the global cancer agenda closer to the realities of patients, health systems and implementation. I feel proud to partner with WHO!”
