Isabel Mestres: Beyond What’s Visible

Isabel Mestres, CEO of City Cancer Challenge (C/Can), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Tuesday Reflections | Beyond What’s Visible

So much of the work behind stronger cancer systems happens far from public view. What we share here is only a small window into a much larger, collective effort.

In every city, progress is built together: local teams shaping decisions, institutions providing evidence and direction, partners and experts contributing knowledge, and at C/Can, helping bring coordination and a systems perspective that holds it all together.

In my [Impact in Action] posts, I highlight milestones from the ground. They are visible moments in a much wider engine, powered by people, institutions, and partnerships, each carrying their share of complexity and purpose.

Impact for me is about lasting change: often invisible at first, built step by step by many people. Some of it we see; much of it we don’t. But every step matters, and together those steps enable the kind of transformation that changes lives.

As we close the year, I’d love to use this space to recognize the people behind the progress. Feel free to tag a colleague, a partner, or someone on the ground, at C/Can or beyond, whose work deserves to be seen and appreciated.

I start by tagging the City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) Board, another unseen layer, volunteers who give their time, guidance, and commitment to make sure C/Can can do its best work for the cities we serve. Jörg-Michael Rupp, Stuart Bennett, Dato’ Dr Saunthari Somasundaram, Verna Vanderpuye, Santiago Cornejo, Andrew Whitman, Valentina Gizzi, Nneka Mobisson and Justin Abbott. Thank you all!”
