“Adda Bounedjar on Why Cancer Knows No Borders.
EU–MENA Collaboration Matters More Than Ever.
The discussions in Nice this week at the France – India scientific meeting on Respiratory Health, AI and Precision Medicine (Université Côte d’Azur and IHU RespirERA) reinforced an increasingly important reality: scientific collaboration is becoming one of the most powerful tools for addressing global health challenges.
From precision medicine and cancer diagnostics to artificial intelligence and health data, the event highlighted how partnerships across regions can accelerate innovation and improve patient outcomes.
It also reminded us of an insightful conversation we hosted last year during our EU–MENA Partnership event with Pr. Adda Bounedjar. In the interview, Professor Bounedjar shared valuable insights into the key cancer challenges facing the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, including:
- Expanding prevention and screening programmes
- Strengthening oncology research and training
- Improving access to innovative treatments
- Developing comprehensive cancer control strategies
Most importantly, he highlighted a message that resonates strongly today: collaboration is not a luxury, it is a necessity.
As cancer incidence continues to rise across regions, stronger partnerships between Europe and MENA countries are essential to accelerate progress in precision medicine, improve screening and early detection, expand research opportunities, and facilitate innovative approaches such as electronic multidisciplinary teams.
Professor Bounedjar emphasized that building bridges between regions is fundamental to improving patient outcomes and ensuring that advances in cancer care reach more people, regardless of geography.
This message echoes many of the discussions we have heard recently across international forums: whether in Europe, the MENA region, India, or beyond, the future of healthcare will be shaped by collaboration, shared knowledge, and collective action.
At IPM Alliance, we remain committed to fostering these dialogues and supporting partnerships that translate innovation into better prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care for patients worldwide.
Watch our interview with Professor Adda Bounedjar and discover his perspective on the future of cancer control and EU–MENA cooperation.”
