“When numbers don’t tell the whole story.
In healthcare, and increasingly across many sectors, we’ve become very good at measuring what is visible.
Activity. Throughput. Targets.
But what if the things that matter most… are the ones we don’t measure as easily? I wrote this blog reflecting on the growing tension between productivity as a number, and productivity as something lived: by clinicians, teams, and patients.
Because real performance is not just about doing more. It’s about doing what matters, in a way that is sustainable, human, and meaningful. And perhaps the real question is not ‘how much are we doing?’…but ‘what are we overlooking’?
Turning my focus now on leaders. Lots to do. Starting from making time to think for ourselves.”
