“Dear IC – OS Community,

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dr Steve Lipshultz (March 25, 1954 – September 5, 2026), a pioneering scientist and physician whose work helped establish the foundation for the field of pediatric cardio – oncology.

Dr. Lipshultz was a visionary who recognized, well before cardio – oncology became an established discipline, the profound cardiovascular consequences of cancer and its treatment in children. His groundbreaking research transformed our understanding of cardiotoxicity and survivorship and helped bring cardiovascular health to the forefront of pediatric cancer care.

Beyond his scientific contributions, Dr. Lipshultz was a dedicated mentor who inspired and trained generations of physicians and scientists. His influence extends through the many trainees and colleagues who carry forward his commitment to advancing care for children with cancer.

His contributions to pediatric cardio – oncology are immeasurable, and his legacy will continue to shape our field for years to come.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, colleagues, trainees, and the many patients and families whose lives he touched.

The IC – OS community is deeply grateful for Dr. Lipshultz’s pioneering contributions, his mentorship, and the lasting legacy he leaves in pediatric cardio-oncology.

With deepest sympathy,
The IC-OS Board Of Directors.”
