Daniel Olive, University Professor and Hospital Practitioner at Aix-Marseille University, Paoli-Calmettes Institute shared a post on LinkedIn:
“French immunology is everywhere and yet, too often, nowhere.
From oncology to infectious diseases, transplantation, autoimmunity and vaccinology, immunological research underpins major therapeutic advances. Individual French scientists are internationally recognized. Yet as a collective ecosystem, French immunology lacks clear strategic positioning on the global stage.
Its transversal nature, which is a scientific strength, has also contributed to its structural invisibility. Immunology is frequently embedded within disease-specific frameworks rather than identified as the foundational engine driving innovation.
If France intends to assert leadership in this field, visibility cannot be left to circumstance. It requires deliberate communication, stronger collective identification, and a shared narrative articulated beyond our immediate scientific circles.
Scientific excellence is a prerequisite. Strategic visibility is a responsibility.
I explore this challenge and why communication must now be considered part of scientific leadership in the full article below.”
