“Can we improve prognostic stratification for glioblastoma when molecular testing is not universally available?
I’m happy to share our latest publication in Future Oncology published by Taylor and Francis Group – Taylor and Francis Research Insights.
The novel RANO risk score has significantly improved prognostic stratification for patients with IDH-wildtype glioblastoma. However, MGMT promoter methylation testing remains inaccessible in many parts of the world, limiting its global applicability.
In our pilot, hypothesis-generating study, we evaluated a RANO-adapted clinical score excluding MGMT promoter methylation while preserving the original scoring framework, and it still demonstrated strong prognostic performance for both overall and progression-free survival. We hope this pragmatic approach will stimulate further validation studies and contribute to the development of more equitable and globally applicable prognostic tools, particularly for resource-limited settings.
