Ieva Ailte Welcomes 120 Experts from 25 Countries to Discuss Cancer De-escalation

Ieva Ailte, PhD, Project manager EUnetCCC at Oslo University Hospital shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Members of EUnetCCC Task for Cancer Research are gathering at The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) in the sunny Amsterdam one day before the symposium «Innovating Cancer Care Through De-escalation Studies». What an amazing team!

De-escalation in cancer care is about optimizing and reducing cancer treatment (when appropriate) to reduce the toxicity, side effects and late effects affecting patients. The ultimate goal – better quality of life for patients after the treatment.

But how to tell patients that less can be more? How to select those patients that would benefit from de-escalation?

This meeting is about gathering clinicians, researchers, patient and industry representatives for discussions, exchanging experiences and practices in setting up De-escalation studies. By this, we aim to increase the number of high quality de-escalation studies across Europe.

We are looking forward to greeting more than 120 registered participants and speakers from 25 European countries on 5-6. March at NKI!”
