The Institute of Cancer Research shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We were honoured to welcome legendary West Indies cricketer Sir Clive Lloyd to The Institute of Cancer Research, London, today, as he visited Professor Rosalind Eeles’ lab to learn more about our world‑leading research into prostate cancer genetics.
Sir Clive is launching The Sir Clive Lloyd Foundation, focused on improving access to research, diagnosis and treatment for men with prostate cancer across the Caribbean.
As part of this mission, he is exploring opportunities to support Caribbean participation in the PRACTICAL study – a major international consortium bringing together data from over 120,000 prostate cancer cases and 100,000 controls to identify the genetic factors that influence prostate cancer risk. The study’s goal is to understand inherited risk and improve early detection and outcomes for men worldwide.
Professor Ros Eeles said:
‘We were absolutely delighted to welcome Sir Clive and his trustees to the ICR today. Their passion and commitment to improving outcomes for men with prostate cancer in the Caribbean is truly inspiring. Partnerships like this are essential – by working together, we can ensure research reflects the full diversity of the global population and help drive earlier diagnosis and better treatment for men everywhere.’
It was a fantastic opportunity to discuss how global partnership and cutting‑edge science can come together to improve outcomes for men at higher risk of the disease. We look forward to seeing how this important collaboration develops.
