International Cardio-Oncology Society (IC-OS) shared a post about Oncology Nursing Month on LinkedIn:
“May is Oncology Nursing Month!
Oncology nurses working in cardio-oncology occupy a uniquely demanding space. They must hold expertise in both cancer care and cardiovascular medicine – recognizing the signs of chemotherapy-induced cardiomyopathy, managing patients on cardiotoxic regimens, educating survivors about long-term heart health, and communicating across two complex specialties simultaneously. They serve as a steady human presence in patient care.
IC-OS has several resources to help oncology nurses advance their practice and grow in their careers, including:
- The CONE program – a self-paced, ANCC credit-earning course for cardio-oncology nurses in partnership with the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center
- Cardio-Oncology Fact Sheet for Nurses
- BTK Inhibittor in CLL course, in partnership with the France Foundation
Thank you, cardio oncology nurses! Patients depend on you and we appreciate all you do.”
