IARC Director Elisabete Weiderpass to Discuss How to Turn Cancer Research Into Action at Momentum 2026

IARC – International Agency for Research on Cancer / World Health Organization shared on LinkedIn:

“Scientists at IARC and across the world produce world-class cancer research and evidence.
Our challenge is making sure that knowledge leads to action – in prevention, policy, healthcare and, ultimately, better outcomes for people affected by cancer.

IARC Director, Dr Elisabete Weiderpass, will speak during Momentum 2026, Stockholm, Sweden, on 14–16 October, to address this challenge: how can we accelerate the journey from cancer research and evidence to implementation and patient benefit?

Momentum 2026 is an occasion where researchers, policymakers, healthcare leaders, patient representatives and other key actors will come together to identify barriers, exchange perspectives and work towards concrete ways forward.

With a strong focus on active participation, Momentum is designed to go beyond discussion – and help turn knowledge into action.

Momentum is convened by the Swedish Cancer Society, with IARC, the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the European Academy of Cancer Sciences (EACS), Rising Tide Group, and Cancer Patients Europe – CPE among its partners.

Dr Weiderpass looks forward to contributing the IARC scientific perspective and engaging with colleagues on how evidence can more rapidly and effectively inform cancer prevention and control.”
