Ian Walker, Executive Director of Policy Information and Communications at Cancer Research UK (CRUK), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today I joined almost 100 of Cancer Research UK’s volunteer campaigns ambassadors in Westminster for our annual Parliament Day and to launch our new campaign to Unlock The Breakthroughs.
Future progress on cancer depends on creating the right conditions for research and innovation to thrive and so we are calling on the UK government to speed up clinical trials, attract more global talent to the UK and protect future funding for cancer research.
At an event held at Central Hall, I discussed these issues alongside fellow panel members Dr Scott Arthur MP, Penny Christofi, Dr Cian Murphy and Michelle Mitchell, while our campaigns ambassadors had the opportunity to put some of these issues directly to MPs from across the political spectrum who were in attendance.
Earlier this year when the historic Tobacco and Vapes Act became law we saw just what our campaigning work can help achieve. We’re equally committed on ensuring that the UK remains a world-leading hub of cancer research and innovation to unlock the cancer breakthroughs of the future.
