Huzaifah Salat: Why Lung Cancer Advocacy Must Move Beyond Stigma

Huzaifah Salat, Inaugural Regional Medical Director of Respiratory Care for Metro Milwaukee (Org 100) Hospitals at Advocate Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Lung cancer advocacy is changing the narrative from stigma and silence to science, survival, and hope.

Thank you to LUNGevity Foundation (Leah and Andrea) for the invitation to share my perspectives as a pulmonologist and advanced bronchoscopist alongside healthcare leaders, survivors, patient advocates and foundation leaders.

Meetings like this remind me how important it is for physicians to hear perspectives beyond the traditional medical conference.

A meaningful trip all around visiting one of the oldest mosques in the U.S., reconnecting with a medical school friend after seven years, and enjoying some of the best knafeh I’ve had since leaving NYC.

Lung cancer care is advancing rapidly, and I’m grateful to play a small role in that progress.

PS – I promise I had a suit on; this was my mandatory pre flight attire that I had on while saying goodbye to the team.”
