“It was an honor to speak at the 4th Annual State-of-the-Art Lung Nodule Symposium alongside esteemed national and international faculty.
Thank you to Essam for organizing this important forum dedicated to advancing lung nodule management. Having attended for the last three years, it’s inspiring to see how much this conference continues to grow.
My talk focused on improving diagnostic yield in peripheral lung nodule biopsies, and we had a highly engaging discussion covering key procedural considerations and, importantly, the value of close collaboration with pathology. We also reviewed the US literature on cryobiopsy (Shout-out to Jessica for sharing the 2025 studies). We closed with an important conversation on whether diagnostic yield is truly the best metric for evaluating the success of a bronchoscopy program or if we should instead be measuring survivorship and stage shift (shoutout to Susan Garwood for planting this idea during her talk in charlotte ).
One of my personal highlights each year is hearing Momen’s insightful talk and consistently blown away by his humility. It was also wonderful connecting with colleagues from around the world including many I had only met virtually until now.
The future is bright for lung cancer care, and Alhumdulilah, I’m grateful to play a small part in it.”
