“A promising step forward in melanoma treatment.
Merck and Moderna announced positive Phase 3 results from the INTerpath-001 trial, showing that an investigational, personalized mRNA-based therapy, intismeran autogene (V940), combined with KEYTRUDA, significantly improved recurrence-free survival and distant metastasis-free survival compared with KEYTRUDA alone in people with completely resected stage IIB-IV melanoma.
This is the first positive Phase 3 readout for an individualized neoantigen therapy and marks an important milestone for personalized cancer treatment. The therapy is designed using the unique genetic “fingerprint” of each patient’s tumor to help train the immune system to recognize and fight cancer cells.
The study will continue to evaluate overall survival, and the full data will be presented at an upcoming medical meeting and shared with regulators.
