Humaid Al-Shamsi: Visiting Datar Cancer Genetics Limited at Their FDA Approved Facility in Nashik

Humaid Al-Shamsi, CEO of Burjeel Cancer Institute (BCI) Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“This past weekend, I had the opportunity to visit Datar Cancer Genetics Limited at their FDA approved facility in Nashik, India. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Rajan Datar and Prof Vineet Datta , Dr. Darshana Patil and the team.
It was inspiring to see first hand their advanced work in next-generation sequencing (NGS), minimal residual disease (MRD), liquid biopsy, and precision oncology diagnostics.

For those who may not know, Datar Cancer Genetics Limited Genetics recently achieved a major milestone with US FDA clearance for CellDx-Tissue, a comprehensive genomic profiling assay for solid tumors. CellDx-Tissue is a tissue-based DNA + RNA NGS assay analyzing 517 cancer-associated genes, reporting clinically relevant alterations including SNVs, InDels, ERBB2 amplification, and ALK, RET, and ROS1 fusions from FFPE tumor tissue samples.

This is a proud milestone for Indian molecular diagnostics, as CellDx-Tissue has been described as India’s first and only FDA-cleared tissue somatic profiling assay. The assay is supported by a CAP- and CLIA-accredited laboratory workflow, reflecting rigorous validation, quality systems, and clinical utility.

What I witnessed in Nashik reinforces an important message: breakthroughs in cancer science, genomics, molecular diagnostics, and precision oncology are no longer limited to the Western hemisphere.

India is rapidly becoming a major force in shaping the future of cancer care, cancer genomics, and AI-enabled precision oncology.

Thank you to the Datar Cancer Genetics Limited team for the warm hospitality and for sharing your impressive vision and capabilities.

More exciting news to share soon, inshallah.”
