“I am delighted to share our newly published UK real‑world study on trifluridine/tipiracil (FTD/TPI, Lonsurf) in advanced gastric cancer
I’m proud to have contributed to this multi‑centre retrospective analysis, now published in the Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology. This work brings together data from 12 cancer centres across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland—reflecting the true diversity and complexity of patients we see every day.
What we found:
- Real‑world patients receiving Lonsurf are typically older and less fit than those enrolled in the TAGS trial.
- Median overall survival was 4 months, with outcomes strongly influenced by performance status and baseline albumin.
- Toxicity was manageable and broadly consistent with previous reports, with neutropenia being the most common high‑grade event.
- Importantly, fitter patients achieved survival outcomes comparable to clinical trial data—supporting the use of Lonsurf in carefully selected individuals.
This study provides valuable insight into how Lonsurf performs outside the clinical trial setting and helps guide treatment decisions for patients with advanced gastric cancer across the UK.
