Hong Jae Chon: Ipilimumab Doesn’t Improve Advanced HCC Outcomes

Hong Jae Chon, Director of Cancer Center, CHA Bundang Medical Center, shared a post on X:

“Does adding ipilimumab to atezolizumab plus bevacizumab improve outcomes in first-line advanced HCC?

Adding low-dose ipilimumab (1 mg/kg) did not improve objective response rate (30% vs 27%) or survival outcomes compared to atezolizumab plus bevacizumab alone, and slightly worsened tolerability

Randomized phase 2 study by Merle et al. has recently been published in Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology.”

Quoting Erman Akkus, Medical Oncology Fellow at Ankara University, post:

“Addition of ipilimumab to atezolizumab plus bevacizumab in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (PRODIGE 81-FFCD 2101-TRIPLET HCC): phase 2 results from a randomised, multicentre, open-label, phase 2–3 trial – Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology”
