“November 11th marked MASRI Medical Research Center 5th anniversary, celebrating half a decade of pioneering research, innovation, and impactful collaborations that continue to elevate Egypt’s scientific landscape.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of distinguished leaders including:
- Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University;
- Prof. Mohamed Awad Tag El Din, Adviser to the President for Health and Prevention;
- Prof. Hossam El Malahy,
- Prof. Ahmad Zaki Badr, Former Minister of Local Development;
- Prof. Mahmoud El Meteini,
- Prof. Maher Mesbah, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Private & National Universities;
- Prof. Ali Al Anwar, Dean of Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine;
alongside leading scientific and medical figures.
Through the years MASRI continue to position at the forefront of biomedical research in Egypt and the region:
- Played a central role Localization of Genomic Testing in Egypt.
- Official handover of the LIAP International Laboratory Accreditation Project to the MASRI Genomics Lab—formally establishing it as Egypt’s first accredited genomic center.
- Became a national example of successful Private public partnerships —bridging academia, government, and industry to advance research capacity.
- Led the creation of a National Bioinformatics Network, enabling data integration and shared scientific standards.
- building comprehensive research infrastructures in the region, including advanced units for:
Genomics and precision medicine, Bioinformatics, Proteomics, Advanced Microscopy, Tissue Culture, Stem Cell Research, Digital Pathology and Molecular Diagnostics, Clinical Trials, One Health, Animal Research Facilities, Biobanking, and Cancer Biology.
This enabled the center to publish over 150 international papers in leading journals.
