Hesham ElGhazaly: Promoting Global Clinical Trial Equity at Vision Europe 2025
Hesham ElGhazaly, Professor of Clinical Oncology at Ain Shams University and the Founder and CEO of Alfa Cure Oncology Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I am pleased to share that I am participating in Vision Europe 2025 in Brussels — a high-level forum bringing together global leaders to advance innovation, collaboration, and sustainable development in health care and research.
It’s a great chance to focus on advocating for the inclusion of Africa in global clinical trials, strengthening the research infrastructure across the continent, and supporting efforts to democratize clinical trials on a global scale. Ensuring broader geographic and population representation in research is not only a matter of equity, but a scientific necessity for producing effective and universally applicable medical solutions.
This forum also presents a valuable opportunity to highlight Egypt’s recent advancements in research and clinical development — a strong example of the untapped potential within Africa, particularly through the work of Ain Shams University and the MASRI Center. These institutions are at the forefront of genomic research and personalized healthcare in the region. Egypt’s growing contributions to medical science demonstrate the importance of investing in local capabilities and fostering partnerships that elevate regional expertise to the global stage
Equally important is raising awareness around the critical role of public participation in clinical trials. Participation enables progress — it drives discoveries, validates treatments, and builds the evidence needed to deliver better healthcare outcomes for all. Increasing access, trust, and understanding of clinical research is essential to shaping the future of medicine.
It is an honor to join this international dialogue by European alliance for personalized medicine (EAMP) and International Cancer Patients coalition (ICPC) and to have the chance to contribute in building a more inclusive and collaborative framework for global health advancement.”
