“SYMPRAXIS: When the Patient Journey Becomes the Common Point of Reference
‘How can patients experience their care as one seamless journey when healthcare systems continue to operate through separate specialties and parallel pathways?’
This was the question we raised at ELLOK’s 10th Conference, ‘People at the Centre – Bridging Pathways of Care.‘
Today, just six months later, at ELLOK’s 3rd Synergies Forum on Cancer Policy, Research and Funding Strategies, we were proud to announce a significant new SYMPRAXIS between the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology (ΕΟΠΕ – HeSMO), the Hellenic Society of Cardiology, and Hellenic Cancer Federation | ELLOK – a collaboration designed to provide a meaningful answer by advancing a new model of multidisciplinary care.
The collaboration between medical oncologists, cardiologists, and patient representatives is far more than a cardio-oncology initiative. It demonstrates how healthcare can be organised around the needs of patients rather than around the boundaries of medical specialties.
This is precisely why new forms of collaboration are essential. The true value of this SYMPRAXIS is not simply that experts from different disciplines sit around the same table. It lies in creating shared care pathways, developing joint solutions, and delivering a more integrated experience for every patient.
This is what multidisciplinary care truly means:
- Not more silos. More bridges.
- Not parallel discussions. Shared care pathways.
- Not fragmented services. Coordinated support.
- Not separate educational tracks. Shared learning between cardiology and oncology.
Because the future of healthcare will not be built around specialties.
It will be built around patients.”
