Helena Linardou Invites Applications for the AI for Cancer Research Summer School 2026

ESAC – European Interdisciplinary Society of AI for Cancer Research shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Applications are now open for the Summer School on AI in Cancer Research, taking place in Corfu, Greece, from 3 to 7 September 2026.

Organised in partnership with the HeCOG-Hellenic Cooperative Oncology Group, the five-day programme wants to bring together 50 participants around a program aimed at biomedical, clinical, computational and engineering backgrounds.

Across five days, we will examine how AI can move from a clinical or research need to a robust, interpretable and deployable solution in oncology.

Topics will include:

  • translating clinical needs into AI research questions
  • integrating imaging, molecular and clinical data
  • causal machine learning and treatment-effect prediction
  • interpretability, uncertainty and trust in clinical decision support
  • multimodal learning, multi-omics and foundation models
  • AI-driven biomarker discovery
  • clinical implementation, evidence and adoption
  • agentic and multi-agent AI for research and therapeutic decision-making
  • ethics, data protection, regulation and health economics

This year, we will also place a strong emphasis on practical work. Participants will develop proof of concept for collaborative, multidisciplinary research projects through both autonomous and mentored group sessions, discuss career pathways with experts, and present their work in a final (friendly but) competitive Science Slam.

The Summer School is particularly aimed at students, postdoctoral researchers – and any scientist working across cancer research, oncology, data science, engineering for healthcare and related fields.

Up to three participation-cost waivers will be available, with priority given to applicants facing financial or institutional barriers, particularly those from low- and middle-income countries or research environments with limited funding.

Application deadline: 3 July 2026

Helena Linardou, Director of the 4th Oncology Department and Clinical Trials Center at Metropolitan Hospital, added:

“The AI for Cancer Research Summer School returns to Corfu in 2026, co-organised by ESAC Cancer AI, HeCOG, and leading European organisations.

When: 3-7 September 2026
Where: Corfu, Greece

Application deadline: 3 July 2026

This is a highly interactive program with limited places to maximize mentoring and collaboration.
