Hedley Lewis: How Small Acts of Support Create Real Impact in Childhood Cancer Care

Hedley Lewis, CEO of CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA, shared on LinkedIn:

Flip Flop Day returns on Friday, 20 February 2026, and once again South Africans are invited to step out with purpose.

At CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa, we see daily how small actions, taken together, create real impact. A simple R10 Flip Flop Day sticker helps us provide accommodation close to hospitals, transport to treatment, psychosocial support, and educational assistance for children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer, and their families.

This campaign may be light-hearted on the surface, but its message is serious: no family should walk the childhood cancer journey alone.
I encourage individuals, workplaces, schools and communities to get involved. Wear your flip flops, start a conversation, invite others to join, and be part of something bigger than yourself. When we move together, even the smallest step can change a life.

Tickets are available at Tekkietown , CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA regional offices and online.”
