“September is childhood cancer awareness month.
But awareness must lead to advocacy.
From diagnosis through treatment and survivorship, every child has the right to:
- Be heard, not only spoken about
- Receive age-appropriate information
- Participate meaningfully in decisions
- Have their dignity, identity and childhood protected
- Receive continued support after treatment ends
For nurses, advocacy means bringing the child’s voice into every conversation and every care decision.
Because children are not only recipients of care they are partners in it.
How can we ensure that children’s voices remain central throughout the cancer care continuum?”
