“Congratulations to Sally Hasler and Prof Sianan Healy on a powerful VCCC Lunchtime Live seminar on Gender Equity in Cancer Care.
It was inspiring to see the Lancet Commission on Women, Power and Cancer being put into practice in an Australian context. The new research led by Women’s Health Victoria highlighted how gender shapes experiences of cancer care across Victoria, and reinforced that current systems are not adequately supporting women and trans and gender-diverse people to navigate treatment in ways that affirm identity and protect overall wellbeing.
It was great to hear their practical, intersectional pathways forward across policy, practice and workforce capability. Building a workforce equipped to deliver truly gender-responsive care is critical to improving outcomes.
Looking forward to the next phase and further collaborative work to reduce gender inequities in cancer!”
